Biography

I have a long-standing relationship with the University of Manchester, having studied here on the BA(Econ) programme as an undergraduate. I completed my PhD in Sociology at Manchester in 2010 with my thesis entitled: 'Framing the Gap Year: Difference, Distinction and Identity Work in Online Travel Narratives'.

In 2008 I undertook an ESRC-funded doctoral placement at the British Library, which explored the implications of Web 2.0 technologies for social research. I joined the Sociology discipline area as a member of staff in 2009 and have convened courses on Media Culture and Society; Racism and Ethnicity; Britain in a Global Context; and Research Methods.
