Maurice graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Nottingham and obtained an MRes from the University of Southampton in 2003, with a thesis on the physical modelling of shingle beach profiles. He studied for a PhD at the University of Manchester, carrying out research on the numerical modelling of nearshore waves and wave overtopping. This research contributed to the coastal flooding work package of the Flood Risk Management Research Consortium. He also has some indutrial experience, having worked in coastal modelling and engineering at Black and Veatch and at Halcrow. Maurice's current research is on the modelling of landslide generated tsunamis, investigating their possible impact on the UK's coastal infrastructure.
