Pakistani student at Manchester

Pakistan

Introduction

The University has a long history of welcoming students from Pakistan and the city of Manchester has a large community of Pakistanis who have settled in the UK.

The University had 115 students from Pakistan registered in 2016/17. They were studying a wide range of different subject areas including Business and Management, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medicine, Law, Chemistry, Maths, Pharmacy and Development.

Rusholme, a suburb of Manchester within easy walking distance of the University, is famous for the Curry Mile – the largest concentration of South Asian restaurants in the UK.

You can also shop for traditional Pakistani food (including halal), clothing and music and celebrate traditional festivals such as Eid.

The University understands the needs of the large number of our students and staff who are muslims. The refectories sell halal food, there is a mosque on campus and the student-run Pakistani Students Association plays an active and constructive role at the University.
