Schools and colleges
At The University of Manchester we have developed a comprehensive and exciting programme of activities for prospective students and their influencers. This consists of work with primary, secondary and further education students as well as teachers, careers advisers and parents.
Our work is informed by the following aims:
- To promote opportunities for progression to higher education generally, wherever that might be;
- To identify and attract talented students to Manchester from all educational backgrounds.
In pursuing these objectives we aim to provide a suite of professional, interactive and highly imaginative activities that can enthuse and inform learners about the range of opportunities and pathways open to them when considering higher education.
We are mindful of the need for learners to be able to access high-quality information, advice and guidance about higher education. To this end we also work closely with teachers, careers advisers and parents on a range of activities.
A professional service to schools and colleges
The University of Manchester aims to provide a high-quality, professional and flexible service to schools and colleges. Our staff are able to provide expert, up-to-date information about progression to higher education and are members of the Higher Education Liaison Officers Association (HELOA) - the professional body overseeing university work with prospective students and their influencers. Staff and student ambassadors working with young people have also received training and official clearances to undertake their work.
Whether you are a prospective student, teacher, careers adviser, local authority worker or an educational manager in a different setting, we hope that you find these web pages an informative and helpful starting point for accessing the many activities we have developed to support progression into higher education.
