Neil McArthur is the founder of national telecommunications operator Opal Telecommunications, acquired by the Carphone Warehouse Group in 2002 and renamed Talk Talk. Neil was the Managing Director of TalkTalk Technology until 2010. Following TalkTalk’s demerger from the company in 2010, Neil was appointed Director of Group Innovation.

Neil is a chartered engineer and a fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He has worked on telecommunications networks since 1996 and received a doctorate from Essex University for his work in telecommunications. In 1992 he was awarded an MBE for his services to engineering. Neil is Chairman and a trustee of the Hamilton Davies Trust, a Manchester-based charity and Chairman of the Manchester Tech Trust a charity to promote technology and enterprise in Greater Manchester.
