Discovery Centre awards joy

Staff at the award-winning Discovery Centre at the University of Manchester’s Jodrell Bank Observatory are celebrating again after scooping ‘Team of the Year 2014’ in the tenth Annual Cheshire Tourism Awards.

The awards, hosted by Marketing Cheshire, celebrate excellence and outstanding achievement among local businesses and organisations across 14 categories.

The judges congratulated the Centre on the teamwork shown across every level and the warm welcome given to visitors. The Centre will go on to represent Cheshire at the national Visit England Awards for Excellence in 2015.

Discovery Centre Director Teresa Anderson said: “Everyone here at Jodrell Bank contributes to our success so it’s fitting that the awards have recognised our teamwork this year. I’m hugely proud of everything that the staff here achieve on a daily basis. The award is very well-deserved.”

Katrina Michel, Marketing Cheshire’s Chief Executive, said: “The awards are about celebrating all that is wonderful about the tourism industry in Cheshire. The quality of award submissions was so high our judges had a really tough job on their hands selecting the winners.”

The awards ceremony was held last Thursday at Chester Racecourse.
