Double delight for Manchester students at national awards

Two University of Manchester students took top honours in the finals of the TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year awards.

Mathematics Masters student Aataullah Naser won the Future CFO of the Year Award, sponsored by ACCA, and his prize is a paid internship with the global professional accounting body and a five-day visit to Shanghai. 

Rahul Taneja, studying Chemical Engineering, won the Low Carbon Energy Undergraduate of the Year prize, sponsored by EDF Energy, and his prize is an internship with the energy company, lunch with a station director and a visit to a nuclear power station in France.

Aataullah and Rahul were among 109 undergraduates invited to the final in Canary Wharf, London, where the winners were announced. The University of Manchester had ten finalists in the twelve award categories – more than any other university.

The other Manchester finalists were Daniela Florsecu (Computer Science), Masters student Stephanie Baines (Physics), Luthfilaudri Nadhira (Chemical Engineering), Paul Guillon (Environmental Management), Shahid Neki (Chemical Engineering), Adnan Ghor (Management), Joshua Graham Smith (Economics) and Laura Sidhom (Mathematics and Physics).
