Activities for prospective students

With the different higher education options becoming ever more complex, the University aims to provide a suite of activities and resources for prospective students and their influencers. The full range of this information can be found on our schools and colleges web pages.

Many of these activities are open to all prospective post-16 students. In particular, the University of Manchester Aspiring Student Society (UMASS) offers post-16 learners the opportunity to engage directly with the University. Students can sign up individually to the programme at any time in order to participate in a range of activities designed to enrich the curriculum and provide advice on different aspects of university life. Students receive support through a monthly e-newsletter and dedicated website, which feature information about upcoming events and advice on the university application process.

In addition, our Discover Days are targeted at Year 12 students and offer an invaluable opportunity to find out more about a particular subject area at university. We offer over 500 different degree courses at Manchester and many of these involve study of disciplines which do not form part of the secondary school curriculum. Discover Days help students get a taste of fresh and exciting areas of study.
