English language requirements

All international students coming to study in the UK on a student route visa are required to demonstrate their proficiency in the English language.

The minimum English language requirements for each programme are specified in the course description

We accept a range of global English tests (eg IELTS, TOEFL iBT). In addition, we may be able to consider English from Malaysian SPM CEFR Level C1 and above (from 2021 onwards), Malaysian 1119, IGCSE and IBDP depending on the overall score achieved. Some courses have English language requirements that are higher than the required level stated here. Please check the relevant course for details.

For further guidance about evidencing English language proficiency, please contact the International Office or the relevant admissions team. Alternatively, consult our English Language requirement web pages.
