Introduction

The University of Manchester is one of the UK's most popular destinations for students from Qatar. We currently have 25 Qatari students studying at the university and over 300 students from the Persian Gulf region.

The University of Manchester is recognised by the Higher Education Institute of Qatar and is one of the seven UK universities which feature on the Supreme Education Council's list of Emiri Institutions.

This means that the University of Manchester has been identified by the SEC as one of the top 50 institutions in the world. We also receive sponsored students from prestigious sponsors such as Qatar Petroleum.

Given our experience in hosting students from the Middle East, we are confident that we are well equipped to meet the specific academic, religious and dietary needs of students coming from this region.

Manchester is a vibrant multicultural city with a large Muslim population. There are two prayer rooms provided on campus and there are a number of Mosques located near the University and student areas.

Many of our restaurants serve a selection of Halal certified meals and sandwiches, and many front line staff have completed training on how to deliver Halal food.

Our students from Qatar are studying at all levels in a broad range of disciplines with the following subject areas proving particularly popular:

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Dentistry
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Medicine
