SALC awarded Athena Swan Bronze Award

We are delighted to announce that the School of Arts, Languages and Culture (SALC) has been awarded the Athena Swan Bronze Award.

Athena Swan Bronze Award

SALC’s Athena Swan Bronze Award completes the accreditation by this Charter of all Schools in the Faculty of Humanities. The School’s application adopted an intersectional approach to gender, ethnicity and disability; and our attendant five-year Action Plan reflects our commitment to improving equality, diversity and inclusion in our School.

We are all delighted that the School of Arts, Languages and Culture has been awarded the Athena Swan Bronze Award. As Head of School, I am proud of our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and this award is a most welcome recognition of this commitment. Now we can build on this to make even greater progress towards more ambitious goals in EDI. The award is also testament to the dedication of all members of the self-assessment team, led by Dr Sheena Kalayil, which has made the award possible in the first place.

Thomas Schmidt, Head of School
