In 1999, I graduated in Modern Languages from Urbino University (Italy) with a thesis on Russian influences on English Modernist literature. In 2000 I obtained an MA in Contemporary European Culture: Language, literature and Society from the University of Exeter, with a thesis on the role of the reader in Gesualdo Bufalino's Le menzogne della notte. In 2007 I obtained a PhD in Italian Literature from the University of Birmingham with a thesis on the modernist negative character in the early short fiction of Massimo Bontempelli, Carlo Emilio Gadda, Tommaso Landolfi and Aldo Palazzeschi.
