Overview
This practical unit will introduce students to core strategic and organisational behaviour principles and tools. It focuses on an identified work-based public health priority area, allowing the student to develop a business and marketing plan.
Throughout this unit, students will explore their personal leadership and management skills in the context of designing and marketing a public health service.
The student will be required to present their proposal to their peers within the cohort, write an executive summary of their proposal and present a strategic and marketing plan on the public health area of their choice.
The delivery of the unit will promote the social construction of knowledge within the cohort, with peer review contributing to their summative assessment.

Aims
The unit aims to produce graduates with:
- a practical understanding of leadership and management principles;
- a working knowledge of fundamental strategic business tools;
- the opportunity to create a strategic business and marketing plan for the delivery of a community pharmacy public health service;
- an ability to identify their own personal development needs and demonstrate innovative thought and vision, enabling them to work at the forefront of their profession.

Students will be able to:
- demonstrate an advanced and practical understanding of the theories, concepts and models of leadership, management and marketing;
- demonstrate a working knowledge of strategic business tools and external audit principles, namely SWOT analysis and matrix, PESTLE and Five Forces analysis;
- understand the complex issues surrounding the implementation of a new community pharmacy public health service.
