Lexie Baynes

Lexie (full name Alexandra) is the elected Union Affairs Officer at The University of Manchester Students' Union.

In her role, Lexie is the key representative of the University's 47,000-strong student body, and is responsible for overseeing the Union's engagement, experience and democratic work. She is also Co-Chair of the Board of Trustees, and sits on the Board of Governors at the University. Lexie works in a team with seven other elected officers, who all have distinct remits to ensure that all students who come to The University of Manchester have the best possible experience on campus, and in the city too.

Lexie graduated from The University of Manchester in 2024 with a First class degree in English Literature and History, BA Hons.

As an undergraduate, she was the Head Opinion Editor at the student newspaper, The Mancunion, and hosted her own original show at the student radio station, Fuse FM; at the Arts and Media Awards she won three awards for her work there.

At the University, she was involved in several different societies, volunteered for different organisations, and was a Peer Mentor.

Lexie has held several different jobs across different sectors, such as education, hospitality, childcare and operations. She has completed work experience with Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, and at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
