From Performance Arts to Primary Sources: New collections expand our digital resources
The Library has expanded its digital collections with new resources supporting teaching, learning and research across the arts, social sciences, business, health and environmental sciences.
A major new addition is ProQuest One Performing Arts, which brings together a number of collections for the study of music, theatre and dance. Covering the early modern period to the present day, it includes filmed performances, audio recordings, music scores, playscripts, journals and archival material.
Content includes the Theatre Performance and Design archive, covering set, costume and lighting design from the seventeenth century to the present, and Qwest TV EDU, which provides more than 1,300 concerts, documentaries and artist interviews spanning jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop and global musical traditions.
The resource includes all four parts of Classical Music on Video, the complete Classical Scores Online and more than three million tracks in the Music Online: Listening collection.
New Scholarly Reference and Interdisciplinary Resources
Our scholarly reference content has been expanded through Oxford Handbooks Online, with new collections in Business and Management and Psychology. We have also expanded access to Oxford Intersections providing interdisciplinary insights for AI in society, borders, climate adaptation, environmental change and gender.
Primary Source Collections
New primary source collections include Apartheid South Africa Modules IV and V, 1948–1994, which draws on previously classified archival material from The National Archives to document apartheid-era politics, resistance, international relations and social change. In addition State Papers Online: Nineteenth Century features official state papers from the reigns of Queen Victoria and King Edward VII revealing insights into British government, empire, foreign policy and domestic affairs.
Newspaper Archive Additions
Our newspaper collections now include El País Historical Archive, 1976–2023, offering access to nearly five decades of coverage from one of Spain’s major national newspapers, alongside additional content for the Mirror Historical Archive now covering 1903-2005. Together, these collections broaden access to Spanish and British newspaper content, including reporting on politics, culture, public opinion, international affairs and everyday life.
