Arsenic exposure

Our research developed understanding of origins of arsenic contamination in groundwater and raised international public awareness.

In many parts of the world, groundwater is used for drinking, irrigating crops and the level of arsenic it contains is a major risk.

Our interdisciplinary expertise made Manchester well placed to address this problem. Partnering with various agencies, including Public Health England, we have carried out groundbreaking work on arsenic exposure in Cambodia, Bengal and the UK.
