Strategic documents

The University of Manchester was the first and most eminent of the civic universities, furthering the frontiers of knowledge through research and teaching, but also contributing to the wellbeing of its region and society more widely. These aims have guided the institution ever since and continue to drive our strategic vision.

University vision and strategic plan

Our future

Our current vision and strategic plan was launched in January 2020. To view it, visit our vision page where you will also find five-year plans for each of our core goals and themes.

Previous plans

Visit our previous plans page to view Manchester 2020 and the Manchester 2015 agenda.

Campus Masterplan

We published our Campus Masterplan in 2012, describing our plans to invest £1 billion over ten years to create a world-class campus for our staff and students.

Erasmus policy

We have a strong international profile with 25% of our students and academic staff coming from outside the UK, 25% of our research publications being co-authored with non-UK collaborators, and an alumni community of more than 265,000 around the globe.

We will build on this success and ensure that internationalisation is further embedded in our approach to research, teaching, the student experience, business engagement and social responsibility.
