The governance framework at The University of Manchester is headed by three key people: the Chancellor, the Chair of the Board of Governors and the Pro-Chancellor.
The Chancellor (Lemn Sissay MBE) is the ceremonial head of the University and chairs the General Assembly.
Chair of the Board and Governors
The Chair of the Board of Governors, Edward Astle, (who also holds the title of Pro-Chancellor), plays an important role in the governance of the University while working independently of its regular executive management.
The Pro-Chancellor (Jim Hancock) plays an important role in the oversight of University business, deputises for the Chancellor and chairs the Board of Governors’ Nominations Committee.
