Dr Eric Lybeck

Eric joined the Board of Governors in September 2021.

Dr Eric Lybeck has been a Presidential Fellow in the Sociology of Higher Education since 2018.

His current research is around local and global dynamics between universities, cities and politics.

The 2019 winner of the Bennett Prospect Policy Prize, Lybeck has developed innovative strategies to tackle issues around 'left-behind' regions, 'levelling up' and the civic university generally.

He is Editor-in-Chief of the open-access journal Civic Sociology and the author of two sole-authored books, including 'The University Revolution' about the history of universities in modern society - also available open-access.

Prior to returning to academia in 2008, Lybeck managed operations for a global confectionary business.
