Nana Fredua Agyeman

Nana is an international student from Ghana who joined The University of Manchester in September 2019 to pursue a master's in Development Economics and Policy.

Prior to this, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance at Wuhan University, China. During his time at Wuhan University, he was very active in student leadership and played an important role as the only international undergraduate student selected to join a special team of students responsible for the compilation of a report that helped the Economics and Management School to become one of the 20 European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accredited schools in China in 2015. Nana has also worked in the insurance industry where he leveraged his ability to communicate in Mandarin at an intermediate level to capture a niche market of Chinese investors in Ghana.

After joining The University of Manchester, he was elected as class representative for his cohort, which became the springboard for his active engagement with student affairs. He served on the Student Liaison Committee, the Equality, Division and Inclusion Committee and the Ghanaian Students’ society as Vice President - Events and Marketing. Nana has a knack for building strategic relationships, developing contacts and exploring opportunities.

He aspires to serve as a global leader and a development economist with a focus on poverty alleviation and human capital development. In his leisure hours, he writes and performs spoken word poetry; a conduit for conveying motivation and encouragement to his listeners and addressing social issues.
