Dr James Hopkins, University Historian and Head of Heritage

Dr James Hopkins, University Historian and Heritage Manager

Dr James Hopkins was the first University Historian to be appointed at a UK university. His role combines academic research and teaching with a number of heritage management functions.

James’s research focuses on the history of knowledge institutions and the social sciences and the historic built environment of universities.

Carly Richardson, University Heritage Assistant

Carly contributes to the engagement with the University collections, and the conservation and documentation of each item. She is based in the Heritage office on Thursdays.
