Centre for New Writing students launch latest edition of Manchester Anthology

Students from the Centre for New Writing have launched the 2020 edition of the Manchester Anthology, MANY.

The Manchester Anthology 2020 presents the work of talented new writers from the Centre. Despite the challenges this year has brought with it, the students have rallied together to create an impressive collection of writing and the book is a testament to both their talent and dedication.

The students featured have just completed their studies for a Master’s in Creative Writing. This year’s Anthology features novel extracts, short stories, creative non-fiction and poetry and is introduced with a foreword by Horatio Clare, lecturer in creative non-fiction, who has published a dozen books for children and adults, ranging from memoir and travel to short stories and novellas.

"The seeds of the future, with its border-crossers, its doubling and inter-twining, with its broken binaries and remade pasts, are here, are distinct and tangible, in MANY,” he said.

The students are celebrating with a Manchester Anthology 2020 online launch event on 28 October at 7pm.

Free tickets for the event are available via eventbrite.

With a Q+A and readings from some of the writers whose work is showcased in the anthology, the event will give you a chance to hear from new voices.

The Centre for New Writing welcomes literature lovers to come together to recognise an incredible body of work.

A limited number of copies of the Manchester Anthology 2020 will be on sale from Blackwell’s Bookshop, priced at £6.

The Anthology is also available to view online for free.

The Manchester Anthology 2020 cover artwork was designed by Jeremy C Simon, and the book features illustrations by Eli Moore.
