Greater Manchester Housing Futures events

Manchester Urban Institute has been supporting a network of organisers, community campaigners and progressive academics from across the progressive political spectrum with their group events as they work to advocate for radical solutions to the housing crisis and keep the issue high on the political agenda.

The Greater Manchester Housing Action group formed in 2015 and the network events are growing. Manchester Urban Institute has recently become involved and is helping to fund and organise events in Manchester.

On 21 June, the network met at the Mechanics Institute for an event titled 'Co-Housing: potential and Challenges'. Carl Makin has written a blog on topics discussed at that event, titled 'Five reasons why we need more co-housing'. In this blog, Carl considers loneliness, sharing, caring and other community benefits and also environmental benefits to co-housing. You can read Carl's blog here.

The next event is taking place at the Friends' Meeting House and is titled 'Community Land Trusts: The What, Why and How'.
