Manchester hosts SIAM UKIE National Student Chapter Conference 2019

The University of Manchester SIAM-IMA Student Chapter has played host to the eighth SIAM UKIE National Student Chapter Conference.

Staged across June 10 and 11 2019, the annual conference was organised by and for SIAM student chapters. It brought together applied mathematics students from all over the UK and Ireland, giving them the opportunity to broaden their networks and present their work to a wide audience.

The conference included four plenary talks from leading researchers, more than 20 student talks and 15 posters. Prizes were given out to students at the end of the two days.

The event was a huge success and was only made possible thanks to the kind and generous support of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA). The organisers also secured grants from the Manchester Institute for Mathematical Sciences (MIMS) and The University of Manchester Data Science Institute, as well as industrial sponsorship from Auto Trader, MathWorks, NAG, N Brown and Overleaf.
