Manchester musicians make ISCM World Music Days shortlist

Two graduate musicians from The University of Manchester have made the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) World Music Days 2020 shortlist.

Taking place in New Zealand, composers Manuella Blackburn and Tom Coult are among the six talented individuals who have been submitted to the ISCM’s international jury.

Manuella, who completed her PhD in electroacoustic music composition in 2010 under the supervision of Ricardo Climent, has been composing for 12 years and is a member of Manchester Theatre in Sound (MANTIS), and has performed all over the world.

Tom studied under Camden Reeves in 2011 and is currently a Visiting Fellow Commoner in the Creative Arts at Trinity College Cambridge, while he is currently working with the BBC Philharmonic and will see his first opera tour in 2020 and 2021.

At least one of the works of the composers selected for the ISCM World Music Days shortlist will be included in the festival programme, which will be taken to Aukland and Christchurch, New Zealand, in May 2020.
