PhDiscuss webinars to focus on EDI topics within research community

An upcoming webinar series aims to create an environment where everyone can proactively propose actions to tackle important issues faced by PhD researchers.

PhDiscuss is a series of open and informative webinars where students, academics and industry partners will discuss challenging topics related to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) within the research community, including matters such as mental health and representation.

The series aims to start a dialogue on subjects that are not widely talked about when doing a PhD, and represents a fantastic opportunity for students to hear new perspectives from people they would not usually meet - ultimately helping them to become more rounded researchers.

It is a chance to build networks based not on academic achievement but on academic values, and gives people from minority backgrounds an opportunity to share their experiences, encouraging a greater understanding of what postgraduate life means for different people.

The first event is entitled 'Can the academic research community ever be truly diverse?' and will be held on Wednesday, 16 December 2020.

More information, including how to register, can be found on Eventbrite.

PhDiscuss is on LinkedIn and Twitter.
