University to host Business Engagement Workshop

Researchers in Higher Education institutions often find the process of accessing businesses and organisations difficult. Equally, arts and cultural organisations may not be fully aware of how best to collaborate with researchers, nor of the value of engaging with Higher Education Institutions. Creative Manchester and Aspect aim to help bridge this gap.

On 2 December, the collaborative organisations will host a Business Engagement Workshop for researchers and creative businesses. Across 1.5 hours, the free, Zoom-based event will explore the development of effective partnerships between academia and the creative industries.

The interactive event will feature talks by pioneering academics and innovative cultural leaders who have formed mutually beneficial partnerships, and who are well placed to give participants tailored advice on developing their own. Creative Manchester’s business engagement with North West-based creative organisations will be showcased, among other examples.

The outputs of the workshop will form the foundations of a toolkit, which will provide practical resources and guidance on forging collaborations between academia and the creative industries.

The workshop is the latest online offering from the University’s vibrant Creative Manchester initiative, whose recent events have included a Music, Health and Wellbeing Workshop, a Researching Black British History Workshop and an In Conversation with David Olusoga. Aspect, meanwhile, is a pioneering collaborative network which seeks to develop the commercial potential of social sciences research.

Sign-up to the free workshop via Eventbrite.
