Making a difference worldwide

Manchester’s Equity and Merit master’s scholarships are paving the way to ensuring that the University’s study programmes make a global difference.

Our success

  • 287 full scholarships awarded
  • Fully funded
  • Making a difference to slums, energy, politics and disease

Supporting academically gifted professionals from some of the least developed countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, these scholarships develop graduates who are ready to contribute to the sustainable development of their countries.

Jointly funded by the University and the generosity of donors, Equity and Merit scholarships cover the whole of the student’s experience, from fees to living expenses and travel home. They support students from countries such as Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Using the knowledge I gained at the University has helped me to be the person that can kick-start solving things. I’ve learnt that one person can make a big difference, I no longer see problems; I see challenges.
