Philanthropic support from Canada

Turning potential into opportunities for all students

Education without barriers has been our principle since 1824 – but many students still face real obstacles to getting here and thriving once they do.

Supporting our students is about more than financial aid. It’s about unlocking potential and fuelling ambition – inspiring every student to tackle challenges throughout our city, region and across the globe.

That’s why we’re mobilizing our global community. By making a gift you’ll help to prepare students from all backgrounds to become the leaders and citizens who face down challenges and take us forward.

Case study

An education that shapes you

“My interests and ambitions began from the opportunities I had as a student. I take a lot of my free spirit from my time at The University of Manchester.”

Economist and Canadian alumnus Dr William White graduated from Manchester with a PHD in Economics in 1969. Now, Dr White chooses to give back to the institution that played such a key role in shaping him, by supporting today’s students at Manchester.

“I’m a firm believer that your circumstances make a huge difference in your own success. If you’ve had good luck yourself, it’s a moral duty to give something back – to put a little good luck into someone else's life.”
