Elaine Clark graduated with an Honours degree in English, followed by post-graduate study at Guildford School of Acting before commencing a career as a singer and actress. This career saw her singing on a cruise liner and in areas of the world such as Istanbul, Sri Lanka and Egypt. Elaine's acting work includes roles in 'Hedda Gabler', 'El Senor Galindez' and 'Hamlet' but probably her greatest passion was working in musical theatre and this involved roles in 'Nine - the musical' at the Royal Festival Hall; 'Before the Act' at the Piccadilly Theatre, London; national tours of 'Scrooge', 'Half a Sixpence' at the Shaw Theatre, London and roles in a number of other popular musicals.
After ten years on the stage, Elaine followed her initial degree with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and a diploma in Special Educational Needs. This was followed by work as an advocate for people with Learning disabilities, a project worker for a Carers outreach and project manager for a young carers project. This was then followed by work leading a pathfinder 'Patient Advocacy (now advice) and Liaison Service' for a joint PALS between primary and secondary care. Elaine made this work the subject of her PhD at Alliance Manchester Business School and became so empassioned with academia that upon completing her PhD, she joined the health group at Alliance Manchester Business School in 2008.
Elaine is now a Senior Lecturer and is the programme director for the BSc Management programmes, as well as course co-ordinator for a number of undergraduate modules. In addition, Elaine still pursues her interest in theatre, teaching courses on 'Communicating with Confidence' and 'Leadership as a Performance' and 'Personal and Organisational Development'. In addition Elaine has been the operational lead for the Revans Academy of Action Learning from 2008 - 2015.
