I am the EPSRC Chair Professor in Power System Engineering at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, where I have been since July 2006. In 1999/2000, I was Humboldt Research Fellow at the Saarland University (Germany). From December 2000 to July 2006, I was with ABB AG, Germany, working as an expert for switchgear and distribution automation.
Since January 2008 I have been the convenor of the Cigre Working Group B5.14 "Wide Area Protection and Control Technologies"
Other personal interests: music and literature. I play a number of musical instruments (piano, organs, clarinet, chinese bamboo flute - dizi, tambura and guitar)
