I am course convenor for ITAL10200, the core language course for 1st year students, ITAL20472 Additional language, ITAL30472 Additional language, and am co-convenor for ITAL30200, the core language course at final year level. I teach grammar and written skills classes for the first and final year modules. For the Additional language courses, I teach culture-based classes integrated with language. I co-ordinate the general language teaching for Italian Studies and am also involved in devising and developing the language curriculum within the discipline. In the past, I have participated in the delivery of tutorials for content courses and taught language on the post-A level language course for year 1.
At the University of Manchester, I represent and have represented my discipline in several committees and working groups (LATCOF, E learning committee, AS level day organisation) Staff Development Working Group, and ULCUC (University Language Centre Users Committee), which I have been chairing since 2007. I regularly participate and contribute to GTAs and Language Tutor training days.
In 2008, I was awarded one of the four yearly Teaching Excellence Awards by the University.
I was one of the co-organisers of the first national EBL (Enquiry-Based Learning) conference in Manchester in 2008.
I was the main organiser of the first national Enhancing the Italian Studies Curriculum: Innovation and Development conference in Manchester in 2010.
In 2010, I was appointed external examiner for the University of Sheffield at the Modern Languages Teaching Centre.
In 2011, I was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Peer Mentoring award.
