Selma joined the University in January 2013 to lead our Real Estate teaching and research. She brings over 25 years experience of practice across the UK including asset management, development, lease advisory and corporate real estate, working as a director in both consultancies (CBRE) and private property investment/development companies.
After graduating with a science degree from the University of Edinburgh, she studied for her professional examinations whilst working for the Valuation Office, the Government's valuation service, before moving into private practice. Immediately prior to taking up her current position, Selma was Programme Director for postgraduate real estate at the University of Salford.
Selma is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) and actively involved in its Assessment of Professional Competence, the final step to achieve chartered status. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
