The partnership with Bank of England

The University of Manchester and the Bank of England have joined forces to address the critical shortage of economics teachers in schools and colleges.

This collaborative initiative aims to enhance the digital presence of economics education and improve customer engagement. The project is rooted in social justice, seeking to diversify the current body of students and teachers of economics with the aim of better representation.

The course

The course is designed for current or budding economics teachers without a formal qualification in the subject. It involves completing a series of four online modules focused on developing subject pedagogy.

Course materials are developed by experienced economics teachers and supported by the University Learning and Development team's expertise in creating successful online learning modules.

Who can apply?

The course is aimed at individuals who are either current or aspiring economics teachers without a formal qualification in the subject. It is particularly designed to support schools and colleges with a broad intake across the ability range.
