Overview

This course unit follows on from the Fiction Workshop I and further develops the skills and knowledge acquired in that course unit. Students will again meet each week to discuss each others work under the supervision of a tutor.

Aims

'To further develop students critical reading skills, so they are able to offer clear and constructive feedback on work-in-progress
-To further explore at the practical level the particular demands and difficulties of writing literary fiction.
-To encourage students to revise and develop their own writing by responding intelligently and selectively to a variety of forms of feedback.
-To enable students to develop the knowledge and confidence to write a successful dissertation of 15, 000 words

Learning outcomes

Make clear and useful suggestions as to how to revise the early draft of a work-in-progress
-Recognise the typical strengths and weaknesses of their own writing so as to be able to more effectively revise and improve their work in response to feedback
-Recognise some of the particular challenges and requirements of writing literary fiction.
-Confidently embark on the writing of a 15,000 word dissertatio
