Overview

The dissertation is a key part of your programme. It is where you apply the skills you have picked up during the programme and develop as an independent data scientist under the supervision and guidance of a research active member of staff.

The dissertation process will runs through the year although the bulk of the work will be done once your second semester assignments are complete.

Assessment:

Ethics Form (0% but required), A project plan. (15%), A report on the project, its methods, and outcomes. This could either be in the form of a technical report or an academic paper. (60%), A presentation – a 3-5 minute recorded presentation outline the aims of the project the approach and the results – either in the form of a video poster or a slide deck. (10%), A set of supporting materials; either a technical appendix or a code repository. (15%)
