MSc Advanced Leadership for Professional Practice (Allied Health Profession) / Course details

This unit aims to introduce the health, social care, and other professionals to the range of existing and emerging technologies used in health and care, along with increasing their understanding of the benefits, limitations, and risks of these digital tools across health and social care.

A range of digital teaching methods will be used including virtual lectures and seminars, together with a range of online learning activities.

1. Recognise and critically discuss the importance of health data, its collection and management via information technology, and how digital data is applied in decision making for service improvement and high quality patient care.
2. Critically assess and articulate insights into current standards, policies, and processes associated with technology and its implementation in health and care.
3. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the range of digital tools used in healthcare and knowledge of the ethical, legal, and social aspects of their use in patient care.

1. Identify the principles of data and information governance, including privacy and security requirements for digital health tools.
2. Apply critical understanding and original thought to illustrate how policies and procedures that govern the deployment, use and management of digital technologies in healthcare.
3. Critically reflect on their role and other professionals in supporting and leading new technological innovations in health and care.
