The scholarship will cover tuition fees fro the programme, plus maintenance. Maintenance will be payable at a rate of £1,200 per month for periods spent in the UK, and 260,000 Yen per month for periods spent in Japan.

Candidates for the Daiwa Scholarships in Japanese Studies must be British citizens who are holders of an Honours degree in Japanese Studies, defined as a programme focussing primarily on the study of Japan, and containing a substantial Japanese language component, and enrolled or enrolling in a Japanese Studies-related programme in either Japan or the UK
Other eligibility criteria
This award is available to existing postgraduate students.
Application is made directly to the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation. The deadline for applications is Thursday 27 January 2022.
Applicants must have a UK MA (or equivalent if studied overseas) with a taught course average of 65%, or higher, a dissertation grade of 65%, or higher, and no mark below 55%. A BA Hons with a 2i classification is also required.
