Programme description

The MSc by Research degree comprises three taught 15-credit units, to be determined in collaboration with your supervisor based on your previous academic background and the proposed research project, and a substantial 135-credit research project.

Nano and functional materials covers the development and study of novel nanomaterials and their assembly into multi-functional structures and devices for their application in key technological areas. Find out more about this research area at https://www.materials.manchester.ac.uk/research/themes/nano-and-functional-materials/  .

    International students (per annum): Standard £24,000, Low £25,000, High £27,000
  • MSc by Research (part-time)

    International students (per annum): Standard £12,000, Low £12,500, High £13,500

Academic entry qualification overview

The standard academic entry requirement for this programme is a Lower Second Class UK Honours degree, or international equivalent, in a relevant science or engineering discipline.

English language

All applicants must obtain the required English language score indicated below:

IELTS greater than or equal to 6.5 or equivalent (with no sub-test less than 5.5) or

IBT TOEFL greater than or equal to 90 (with no sub-test below 22).

Some English Language test results are only valid for two years. Your English Language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.
