Aims

By the end of the course students should be expected to be able to:

- Understand how contemporary management theory and practice has developed, with particular focus on the management of people and organizational change.

- Understand the relationship between shifting management theories and economic, social and organisational change in the 20th and 21st centuries.

- Develop the critical and analytical skills necessary to judge the value of recent and emerging organizational and managerial strategies.
 

Learning outcomes

Students should be able to evaluate critically key management theories and perspectives and show how they influenced, and were influenced by, changing social, economic and organisational dynamics.

Methods of delivery: Lecture classes

Assessment methods

Students will be assessed on the basis of one examination – answering two questions out of eight (100% of mark for course).
