Aims
The unit aims to:
- provide specialist knowledge in the molecular design of medicines
- consider the basis of specific diseases and their treatment using medicinal chemistry principles.
Teaching and learning methods
The unit has a core of 22h of interactive lectures, 2h of revision tutorials, together with support materials and activities delivered online by Blackboard.

Students should be able to:
- Demonstrate how the advanced approaches in medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences can be used for the design, development and clinical applications of effective medicines in various disease areas.

Students should be able to:
- Relate specialist knowledge and skills gained in basic science disciplines to a range of challenging clinical problems by integrating drug discovery concepts to a specific application and/or disease area.
