Sustainability groups
The University’s environmental sustainability plans and targets are overseen by five key groups. These groups help ensure the delivery of our strategies, policies and plans and recommend action to improve our environmental performance.
Environmental Sustainability Committee
Meeting quarterly, the Environmental Sustainability Committee oversees the University’s sustainability work and commitments. It includes representatives from across the University including Social Responsibility, Estates, Finance, the Students’ Union and Faculties.

Carbon Action Group
Meeting every six weeks, the Carbon Action Group support the University in meeting its carbon reduction objectives. The Group contains representatives from Environmental Sustainability, Communications, Finance, Faculties and the Students’ Union. The Group reports to the Environmental Sustainability Committee.

Material Resources Management Group
Meeting quarterly, the Material Resources Management Group oversee the development of proposals to drive efficiencies and embed whole life cycle considerations into decision making and operations across the University. Comprised of 12 members, the Group contains members from Environmental Sustainability, Faculties, Estates, Hospitality & Events, Procurement, Communications, the Students’ Union and Manchester Museum. The Group reports to the Carbon Action Group.

Nature Action Group
Meeting bi-monthly, the Nature Action Group provides advice on issues relating to the natural environment including biodiversity, health and wellbeing and resilience to climate change. Comprised of 22 members the Group contains members from across the University and Students’ Union. The group reports to the Environmental Sustainability Committee.
