Royal Thai Embassy visit to the University

The University was delighted to welcome His Excellency Pisanu Suvanajata, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Kingdom, for a formal visit in February.

The delegation met with the Professor Luke Georghiou, Deputy President and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Flint, Associate Vice President Internationalisation and Mr. Richard Cotton, Director Student Recruitment and Outreach for discussions around the university’s engagement with Thailand, as well as an informal meeting with current Thai students, including members of the Thai Student’s Society in Manchester.

The delegation were keen to visit to the University and to learn more about it strengths, in particular in terms of areas of expertise and opportunities for transnational education. Plans to launch a twice-weekly direct flight between Manchester and Bangkok were also discussed with a senior representative from Thai Airways in the United Kingdom.

Prior to the visit to the University, the Thai Ambassador and delegation visited Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce to discuss trade opportunities for British businesses in Thailand.
