Armchair Events from Manchester University Press

If you’re looking for some literary inspiration during lockdown, or want to learn about something new, Armchair Events from Manchester University Press (MUP) could be just what you’re looking for – and you won’t need to leave your couch.

Curated by the University’s publisher, MUP Armchair Events are a series of online talks that discuss key themes from new books.

The talks cover a range of topics including how collective post-war memory shaped the European Union, understanding the economy in Brexit Britain, uncovering the history of your house and the emergence of Manchester’s footballing culture.

MUP publishes a range of trade titles written by UK and international scholars and hosts public events in the University’s book shops, libraries, museums and cultural centres.

During the lockdown, MUP has broken away from tradition by moving its live events programme online and is connecting with a broader consumer base outside of the University.

The Armchair Events come in different formats – on some, for example, experts are invited to join panel discussions.
