Dialogue, Deeds, Determinations: Connecting to shape an equitable future in Greater Manchester
GM4Women2028 is hosting the Dialogue Deeds Determination event on July 8, 2023 to promote women's rights in Greater Manchester through workshops, discussions, and campaigns for better gender equality.
This 8th July 2023, GM4Women2028 are hosting their Dialogue Deeds Determination event in collaboration with GMCA Women & Girls Equality Panel and funded by the School of Social Sciences Community Partnership Fund.
GM4Women is a charity focused on promoting equality and diversity for the benefit of the community in Greater Manchester. Led by Helen Pankhurst, they are committed to push for progress for Women and Girls in Greater Manchester using Data, Dialogue, Deeds and Determination.
The event will take place in Oldham, in the OBA Millennium Cultural Centre and will include conversations across GM4Women2028’s five working groups: Employment, Safety, Political Participation, Education, Culture and Active Lives.
The Dialogue, Deeds, Determination events are a chance to contribute to the progression of women’s rights in the region. Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a series of workshops to reflect on the current situation for gender equality, and agree key asks to campaign around to strive for better gender equality in Greater Manchester.
Professor Jackie Carter said:
This event will provide a wonderful opportunity to listen and learn. Bringing together those interested in improving the lives of women and girls, and hosting this in Oldham, means we can get to the heart of gender inequality issues in one of the ten boroughs in Greater Manchester. Listening is an important starting point. Our mission is to ensure that actions follow. And we need to collect data and stories to know where we are now so we can measure progress.

In addition to the workshops, fantastic organisations will be hosting stalls on the day, talking about what they do to progress equality and how to get involved, notably Queen Bee Coaching, The Girls Network and Inspire Women Oldham to name but a few.
GM4Women2028 are committed to inclusivity and all are welcome to the event. Men and boys are especially encouraged to attend and reflect on how gender inequality and sexism affects them too (one of the workshops on the day will focus on Make Allyship and Feminism). In addition, the charity also offers bursaries for care and transport for those in need of financial support to be able to attend the event.
