Volunteering and 50,000 Actions

Our students can get involved in a variety of volunteering opportunities to contribute to a more sustainable future.

Volunteering is a great way for students to enhance their university experience. Working closely with our local community, students can make friends and gain new skills.

Student volunteering opportunities

From food growing projects to carbon reduction schemes, there are lots of different activities to get involved in and our students can use their volunteering experience towards the ‘Make a Difference’ part of the Stellify award.

Our volunteering at Manchester site has more information on becoming volunteering opportunities such as joining Incredible Edible Manchester or getting involved with the Want Not Waste shop.

50,000 Actions

We challenge all Manchester students and colleagues to make small changes to live more sustainably and take care of our planet. By working together we can make a difference and help reduce the impact of climate change, lower our carbon emissions and look after our environment.

Colleagues and students can use our online platform, 50,000 Actions, to commit to one or more practical actions to live more sustainably and contribute to our collective goal as a university.

The platform allows colleagues and students to track their progress and share achievements with friends and colleagues.

If you’re a student and would like to find our more, log into the 50,000 Actions portal.
