Equality, diversity and inclusion

We’re committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where our people can participate fully and reach their potential.

Developing leadership

All of our leadership training programmes have equality, diversity and inclusion engagement targets and we’ve had more than 100 graduates from our Women in(to) Leadership programme.

Further afield, we’ve supported 85 alumni in the Aurora leadership programme, which is a key initiative to address the underrepresentation of women leaders in higher education.

A supportive community

We’ve created a supportive community, linking likeminded colleagues and providing platforms to network. This includes our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic; disabled; international; LGBTQ+ and carers groups, with specific support for our research staff.

The right infrastructure

We’ve put tools in place to ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion is embedded in our ways of working and have a suite of online training that staff can engage with.

Our Dignity at Work policy (PDF, 76KB) for staff and students implements zero tolerance of discrimination, harassment or bullying, supported by our specialist team and reporting channels.
