Undergraduate entry requirements

Before you apply for your undergraduate course, please check the entry requirements to ensure you are able to study at The University of Manchester.

English language requirements

Applicants from outside the UK will usually need to meet specific English language requirements to study at Manchester. These vary by course and department but are usually the equivalent of IELTS 6.0–7.0 (or 5.5 for foundation courses).

The minimum English language requirements for each programme are specified on individual course profiles. We accept a range of English language tests as proof of English proficiency, including IELTS, IB Standard Level and IGCSE. Academic and English entry requirements for your country can be found on our country pages.

Other entry requirements

Some courses have additional entry requirements such as previous work experience, submission of written work with the application or previous study of a particular subject.
