Overview
Auditing is a practical hands-on process and the skills to be acquired are a mixture of technical and human skills. The course is designed to allow the students to develop these skills progressively in practice through an actual assessment carried out on an industrial site with a host company – Recent hosts have included Eon Power, Corus, Warwick Chemicals and PepsiCo.
Aims
Discuss the vital role of Maintenance and Asset Management in supporting the achievement of organisational goals. Explain the importance of auditing asset management & maintenance departments.
Describes an overall audit methodology and its associated procedures, models and techniques
Provides practical experience of applying the methodology and its associated procedures, models and techniques to carry out an assessment and reporting results in a structured way so as to promote commitment to the development and implementation of performance improvement plans.
Syllabus

Teaching and learning methods
The course is delivered as 5-full days of teaching and subsequent discussion through the online Blackboard system.

Understand all of the factors which must be taken into account to carry out a maintenance assessment

Cope with situations where there is either too much or too little data
Practical skills
Conduct interviews, analyse records, assess the state of equipment
Transferable skills and personal qualities
Make a compelling case for change. Convince the host organisation of the need to change and the best way to achieve it
