Technical (T) Level qualifications

At Manchester, we're dedicated to providing quality higher education to students of outstanding achievement and potential from all educational backgrounds, and our entry requirements for undergraduate courses reflect this.

We look for strong exam results, but also consider supplementary information to identify students with excellent academic and all-round potential.

Entry requirements

Manchester operates a devolved admissions system, which means all admissions decisions are made within our academic Schools. Here our admissions staff will consider the relevance and acceptability of any qualification or subject. Our academic Schools have assessed the suitability of each T-Level qualification (in Wave 1 and 2) for admission to the University.

Our students must be appropriately prepared to cope with the demands of our programmes. Subject-specific knowledge is required for some of our courses, and this may not be covered sufficiently within the T-Level. Where any UK qualifications or subjects are not suitable, this is made clear within the published selection criteria for individual programmes.

Suitable T-Level entry qualifications

We've reviewed and accepted the following T-Levels as suitable entry qualifications for the following programme areas here at the University. Further information on these courses can be found on our study pages.

Additional qualifications

We understand that you may not be studying a level 3 qualification, such as an A Level, while studying a T-Level qualification. Due to this, we've decided not to require a T-Level and a level 3 qualification for courses where a T-Level alone is not suitable.

However, you may have previously achieved an additional level 3 qualification or chosen to study toward one alongside your T-level. Where this is the case, your portfolio of qualifications may be suitable for entry.

Each applicant's academic School and Department evaluates their pre-HE qualifications holistically to determine whether they're suitable for our courses based on the content and rigour of those qualifications. Contact the Admissions Team within the relevant academic School or Department if you have any questions about your qualifications.

In addition to a T-Level qualification, you'll need a minimum of Grade C/4 in level 2 English Language and Mathematics (GCSE). Some of our courses require additional GCSEs in specific subjects and/or with higher grades. You can find the GCSE requirements in the selection criteria for individual programmes.

Manchester will review the acceptability of Wave 4 of the T-Level qualifications. The University will continue to monitor and review its selection criteria to ensure it's attracting the most talented students, regardless of their educational background.
